YOUR JUDGES
Dogs: Miss Sharon Barkley (Cherryheath)
I have been owned by Welsh Springer Spaniels for 30 years getting my first ‘Parkmist Mr Jinks’ aka Jones, in 1995 and was fortunate enough to gain his and my first CC at Crufts in 2000 and to later make him up into a Show Champion. My second WSS, ‘Parkmist Mr Frisk’ aka Thomas, was also made up and as a pair they won numerous Brace classes, including Best Brace in Show at City of Birmingham in 2000.
I only breed litters when I want a pup for myself so I haven't had many litters but there have been several highlights that I have really enjoyed. My first homebred Sh Champion, C. Mr Mischief, continued to do well in veteran classes and was awarded Veteran of the Year by the SEWSSC on several occasions. A mother and son, C. Miss Chief and C. Mr Mojito, both of whom won Open Working Assessments. Very much dual purpose dogs as each also gained their Stud Book Numbers.
I have tried to give back to the breed and canine world by spending time on Breed Club Committees. I was Working Secretary for both the SEWSSC and WSSC and am currently on the WSSCofSW Committee. I am also on the Committee of a local canine club and regularly steward both for this society and other local clubs.
I also regularly assess RKC Good Citizens for 2 local clubs and am proud to say that all of my dogs have achieved at least their Bronze awards, most their Golds.
My judging ‘career’ started in 2002, at a show which had been postponed for a year due to the Foot & Mouth outbreak and I have now officiated at 7 championship Shows, awarding CCs 6 times.
I am currently successfully campaigning a young dog who is becoming quite renowned on Facebook for his naughtiness. He is a joy to show and luckily, I love him dearly as the plants in my garden certainly don’t. Funnily enough we do seem to forget how naughty puppies are until we are reminded by the next one, but I do feel that Arthur is the naughtiest one that I have ever had and the one that requires me to have an inordinate amount of patience and a sense of humour. Until the next one!
I am looking forward to judging dogs at the WSSCofSW show in March
2026.
SHARON BARKLEY
Bitches Judge - Julie Williams (Trebettyn)
My parents, Danny and Joy Pritchard began their involvement in dogs with Golden Retrievers in 1964. The Trebettyn affix would have been registered in 1964. As a child i also remember my parents also had Welsh Terriers and Shetland Sheepdogs. Our first Welsh Springer Spaniel joined us around 1969, a bitch bred by Les Jacobs of the Greyclouds affix.
I was awarded Challenge Certificates for the first time in Golden Retrievers in 2012, followed by WSS in 2021 and most recently Hungarian Puli in 2025.
I have owned and handled many breeds with success and campaigned Golden Retrievers, German Spitz (Mittel and Klien), Flatcoated Retrievers and Cardigan Corgis to their titles.
Over the years I have owned and shown several WSS and titled SH CH Trebettyn Bevin Boy, SH CH Trebettyn Sion and SH CH Isfryn Spot the Difference Trebettyn.
I look forward to judging and thank the Officers and Committee for their invitation.
JULIE WILLIAMS
