YOUR JUDGES
Mrs Gretel Osborn (Elgert)
I have owned and shown Field Spaniels since 1979, making up multiple Show Champions and working my dogs in the field. I award CCs in the breed and most recently had the privilege of judging Field Spaniels at Crufts 2025. I also enjoy judging widely across the Gundog Group and have judged several Open Show Groups and BIS. I attended the Welsh Springer Spaniel in-person Breed Seminar and Multi-Choice exam in 2019 and have enjoyed judging them on several occasions since then.
Taking on-board the new judging system I have been lucky enough to have thoroughly enjoyed mentoring to fully understand from several breeders and exhibitors the finer points that make the Welsh Springer Spaniel so special and sets it apart from other spaniels as I do feel it important to maintain, value and understand what breed people see within their breed as good and bad attributes of the breed, a breed standard is more than just words on a piece of paper and it is important to fully understand it from a breed point of view.
I am truly honoured to have been invited to judge your Open Show and am really looking forward to the privilege of judging your lovely breed.
GRETEL OSBORN
Special Classes
Judge: Mrs Linda Brooks (Bruxly)
My name is Linda Brookes and I've been involved with pedigree dogs since the late 1980's when I was encouraged by a neighbour to have a go at showing my pet Border Collie Badger. Although Badger never progressed further than Open Shows, my few wins with him was enough to get me bitten by the showing bug, and I've owned and bred several champions in the breed, and also award CC's.
My main breed for the past 12 years has been Cocker Spaniels, which I've also been lucky enough to enjoy some success with. Welsh Springer Spaniels are a breed I've often admired from the ringside, so I'm absolutely thrilled and delighted to have been invited by the Welsh Springer Spaniel Club of South Wales to judge the Specials classes.
