Have-a-Go Training Day - Cwmyoy

The photograph on the right shows the gang of people and their dogs who joned us for our first Have-a-Go Training Day of 2019. Despite the overcast start to the day it turned out to be a lovely day at Cwmyoy - and all the dogs and their owners seemed to have a great time. Trainer Alan Willis said that all the dogs showed a great aptitude for the training and we are all looking forward to the next one.

Even if you missed this one it's not too late to join in the training sessions - contact us now and book your place now for the 4th May.

The Welsh Springer Spaniel Club of South Wales is planning several Training Days this year with expert Gundog Trainers. We aim to encourage owners who would like to ‘work’ their Welsh Springers or just want to find out what it involves.

This is a great opportunity to experience some basic working training.

Even if you never intend "working your dog in the field" you will learn a regime that will give you a dog that will sit, stay and walk to heel and so become a pet you can trust and be proud of in every social setting.

If you haven't tried it before you will be amazed at your Welsh Springer's innate ability to hunt and retrieve - it's what they were bred for!

Photos for each of these training days can be found on our Gallery Website - click on the dates below to view the photos:

TRAINER:

The very experienced Mr Alan Willis of Keldeb Gundogs will be the trainer on each day - he has trained Springer Spaniels (English and Welsh) for many years and has gained an impressive list of Field Trial winners.

LOCATION - Bridge Cottage, Cwmyoy, Near Abergavenny - NP7 7NS

We are extremely grateful to Mr Richard Morris who has given permission for us to use his property in the beautiful landscape of Cwmyoy, Near Abergavenny.

We've used this lovely location several times as it has ideal ground for various training opportunities with open fields, woods and hedgerows and even a stream for water retrieves.

Dogs will be split into groups for Puppy and Novice followed by the more experience dogs -  depending on how many attend.

Tea and coffee on arrival. Please bring along your own packed lunch.

Cost £10 per dog (members). £12 for non-members
