JUDGE’S CRITIQUE
Thank you to the hard working committee for inviting me to judge at their wonderful open show, to my stewards for keeping the ring moving quickly and efficiently and finally to all the exhibitors for their entries and sportmanship. I thoroughly enjoyed my day and was pleased with my final lines ups in both sexes.
DOG CLASSES
Class 1 – Veteran Dog (5:1abs)
1st. Cemis' SH CH Taimere's Talk About Me. – All male with good head, eye and dentition. He has good length of neck into sloping shoulders, nice straight front and cat like feet. Well sprung ribs and well bodied throughout. His topline and tailset are correct and he holds both at all times. Hindquarters are well angulated with good amount of muscle for his age which allowed him to move out effortlessly.
2nd. Woodhams' Glynell Jiffy. – Head of good proportions with correct eye and dentition. Well boned, straight front with good feet. Well sprung in rib with correct topline and tailset which was held at all times. Well angulated hindquarters which again were well muscled for his age. Covered the ground well just preferred neck and shoulders of 1.
3rd. Attwood's IR CH CH Kylowen Drym ShCm
Class 2 – Baby Puppy Dog (1)
1st. Rees' Merchinetes Taliesin at Typica. – 5 months but already showing so much potential. Good head of correct proportions with good eye and dentition. Nice length of neck into good shoulders, straight well boned front and neat feet. He has the most beautiful shape with correct topline and tailset which when settles creates a beautiful outline. Rear angulation is good with muscle I would expect for his age and allowed him to move with plenty of drive. Will watch his career with interest.
Class 3 – Minor Puppy Dog (2,1abs)
1st. Dunne's Highslade Edge of Glory. – Good head, eye and dentition. Neck of good proportions leading into good shoulders and straight front. Correct topline and tailset with good rear angulation but would have preferred him with a little more body. This boy will need time and confidence but has great potential.
Class 4 – Puppy Dog (3)
1st. Dunne's Highslade Edge of Glory. – 1st Puppy Dog.
2nd. Philipson's Menstonia Endless Dreams. – Head of good proportions with correct eye and dentition. He has good length of neck into straight front and good feet. Good spring of rib, well bodied and has the correct topline and tailset. Rear angulation is good with plenty of muscle. Moved well but preferred shoulders of 1.
3rd. Price's Amblelight Red Champion.
Class 5 – Junior Dog (4:1abs)
1st. Burchmore & Bowd's Lenamore Renegade AI. – Good head of correct proportions with nice eye and dentition. His neck is of good length and leads to good sloping shoulders, straight front and beautiful cat like feet. Topline and tailset both correct and held beautifully on the move. He is well bodied throughout with good rear angulation which allowed him to move effortlessly both coming and going. The muscle and condition on this boy is truly outstanding throughout and is a credit to his owner. Pleased to award him RBD.
2nd. Gaylor & Robertson's Gilstonia Run Red Rum for Aprilflash. – Slightly bigger boy than 1 but still balanced throughout. He has good head, eye and dentition. Neck of good length into good shoulders, straight front and good feet. Well bodied, with good topline and rear angulation however, he does carry his tail a little higher than I would like. Movement was sound with plenty of drive and it was obvious to all that this boy just loves being in the ring with his handler.
3rd. Mercer & Mercer's Amblelight Oleander.
Class 6 – Novice Dog (3)
1st. Burchmore & Bowd's Lenamore Renagade AI. – 1st Junior Dog
2nd. Phillipson's Mensotina Endless Dreams. – 2nd Puppy Dog
3rd. Hillard's Benoveor No Easy Way Out
Class 7 – Graduate Dog (1)
1st. Gaylor & Robertson's Gilstonia Run Red Rum for Aprilflash. 2nd in Junior Dog
Class 8 – Post Graduate Dog (2)
1st. Reynolds & Mcilwaine's Benoveor The Show Must Go On. – Good head of correct proportions with good eye and correct dentition. He has good length of neck into sloping shoulders, straight front and good tight feet. Correct topline and tailset but still has some maturing to do in body but has time on his side. Good rear angulation and well muscled throughout which allows him to move out with drive just needs a little more confidence in himself.
2nd. Lewis' Kidenoan Behind Marek Von Trannon. – Good head, eye and dentition. Good length of neck which is well muscled and flows into good shoulders. Well bodied with correct topline and tailset which he held well on the move. He is well muscled with good angulation and moves out effortlessly. I just preferred shoulders on 1.
Class 9 – Limit Dog (1)
1st. Barkley's Jacranella Galahad of Cherryheath (AI) JW. – Unfortunately this boy was very unhappy today due to an irritant in his ears which did affect his performance somewhat. He has good eye and correct dentition, however, he is slightly heavier in head than I would like. Neck is well muscled and leads into good sloping shoulders, straight front and neat, tight feet. Good spring of rib with correct topline and tailset. Good rear angulation which is also well muscled and when settled allowed him to move out effortlessly.
Class 10 – Open Dog (2,1abs)
1st. Gaylor & Robertson's SH CH Heniveruce King of Brewers for Aprilflash ShCEx. – One thing I can say about this boy is that he never lets his handler down and she gets the very best out of him every time. His head is beautifully proportioned with good eye & dentition. Neck of good length with nice muscle and leading into good sloping shoulders, straight front and lovely cat like feet. Well bodied with good spring of rib, correct topline and tailset. Well muscled rear with good angulation which enables him to move out effortlessly. Pleased to award him BD & RBIS.

1st. Dunne & Dunne's. Highslade Edge of Glory. – 1st in Minor Puppy & Puppy Dog.
2nd. Mercer & Mercer's Amberlight Oleander. – 3rd in Junior Dog and just needs confidence. Head, eye and dentition all good. Overall shape is balanced with correct topline & tailset. Good rear angulation with plenty of muscle which allowed him to move out well once he settled.
3rd. Yacoub's Laithmoor's Felka.

Class 13 – Veteran Bitch (4)
1st. Reynolds & Mcillwaine's Benoveor Can't Buy Me Love. – Well presented bitch who was handled beautifully by her young handler. Beautiful feminine head with good eye and dentition. She is well balanced throughout with good spring of rib, correct topline and tailset which she held on the move. Good muscle and rear angulation which allowed sound movement both coming and going. BVB & BVIS.
2nd. Graham's Aindrea Harleyquinn. – Another beautiful bitch with good head, eye and dentition. Nice length of neck into well laid shoulder, straight front and good feet. Nice spring of rib, correct topline and tailset. Well angulated with good amount of muscle which again allowed her to move out effortlessly. Just preferred head of 1.
3rd. Barkley's Cherryheath's Miss Velocity JW.
Class 14 – Baby Puppy Bitch (1)
1st. Attwood's Roxdale Wispa by Kylowen. – Another happy baby who was clearly enjoying her time in the ring. She is pretty in head with good eye and dentition. Nice length of neck with good shoulder and straight front. Topline and tailset both correct which she held on the move. Good rear angulation and the muscle I would expect for her age. Moved out well.
Class 15 – Minor Puppy Bitch (1)
1st. Wallace's Amblelight Meadow Orchid. – Just 6months old but already showing so much confidence in the ring. Feminine head of good proportions with good eye and dentition. Nice length of neck into good shoulders, straight front and nice feet. Correct topline and tailset which she held on the move. Nicely angulated hindquarters with good amount of muscle. Moved out well once settled. BPB & BPIS.
Class 16 – Puppy Bitch (1)
1st. Wallace's Amblelight Meadow Orchid. – 1st Minor Puppy Bitch.
Class 17 – Junior Bitch (4,1abs)
1st. Lewin's Santallina Olympic Flame over Vynesbrook. – This bitch caught my eye as soon as she entered the ring and she did not disappoint. She has the most feminine head of good proportions with good eye and dentition. She is balanced throughout with good spring of rib, correct topline and tailset. Rear angulation and muscle was spot on and allowed her to move out effortlessly covering the ground. Her beautiful shape just completed the picture and I was happy to award her BB & BIS with no hesitation. Will watch her future with interest.
2nd. Graham's Slapestones Catoca. – This bitch was unfortunate to meet 1 today. My notes say 'comments are much the same as 1' however, just preferred rear movement of 1. With time on her side I'm sure she'll be fighting the best for top honours before we know it.
3rd. Best's Amblelight Jasmine at Evangelise.
Class 18 – Novice Bitch (1)
1st. Lockie's Gwirgariad Shooting Star. – Head of good proportions with correct eye and dentition. Well muscled neck leading into good shoulders, straight front and tight feet. Well bodied, with correct topline and tailset which she held throughout. Rear angulation and muscle is good and allows her to move out with drive. A girl that you can tell is devoted to her owner.
Class 19 – Graduate Bitch (2)
1st. Lamport's. Glenbrows Hopefulness. – Nice head with good eye and correct dentition. Good length of neck into sloping shoulders, straight front and good feet. Well sprung in rib and well bodied throughout with correct topline and tailset. Well angulated hindquarters with plenty of muscle. Moved out well.
2st. Yacoub's Laithmoor's Zoska. – Slightly smaller bitch than 1. Feminine head with good eye and dentition. Good sloping shoulders, straight front and good feet. Well bodied throughout with good rear angulation. She is well muscled throughout and moved out wekk but I just preferred the overall shape of 1.
Class 20 – Post Graduate Bitch (4)
1st. Caseys' Tigerrock Amazing Grace with Willowmeana. – Beautiful head which is feminine throughout with correct eye and dentition. Well muscled neck into good sloping shoulders, straight front and neat feet. Well bodied throughout with good spring of rib, correct topline and tailset which she held on the move. Well annulled hindquarters which were well muscled and allowed her to move out effortlessly.
2nd. Lewis' Eiriandylis Strange Magic von Trannon JW. – Good head, eye and dentition. Well muscled neck of good length which flowed into good shoulders and nice neat front. Correct topline and tailset. Well bodied throughout with plenty of muscle. Hindquarters well angulated and moved out with drive just preferred overall balance of 1.
3rd. Mcilwaine & Reynolds Ferndel Rebecca for Benoveor
Class 21 – Limit Bitch (2)
1st. Casey's Tigerrock Lit De Roses with Willowmeana. – The most beautifully feminine head of good proportions with good eye and dentition. She has good length of neck, beautiful sloping shoulders, straightest of fronts and good catlike feet. Good spring of rib, well bodied with correct topline and tailset which never faltered. Her rear angulation is spot on for me with good muscle tone. She moves out effortlessly and will definitely be one to watch in the future. RBB
2nd. Lockie's Benoveor Truly to Gwirgariad. – Another pretty girl with good head, eye and dentition. Lovely length of neck into good shoulders, front and feet. She is slightly longer cast than 1 but still maintains her topline and tailset at all times. Hindquarters are well angulated with plenty of muscle. Just preferred overall outline of 1.
Class 22 – Open Bitch (1)
1st. Ferguson's Julita Raindance at Teaselwood. – Head of good proportions with correct eye and dentition. Her neck is well muscled and of good length. Nice sloping shoulders into straight front and good feet. She is well angulated with plenty of muscle throughout but I just wanted more enthusiasm from her on the move today.

Class A – Tregwillym Memorial Junior Dog or Bitch (5:2)
1st Gilstonia Run Red Rum for April Flash (Gaylor & Robertson) – Excellent overall balance. Head is well moulded with skull and muzzle of equal length. Well chiselled beneath the eyes. Soft expression. Well placed ears. Neck, clean and of good length. He has an excellent lay of shoulder with corresponding length and return of upper arm. Compact in body with correct length of ribcage. Correct topline with slight rise over the loin. Moderate turn of stifle. Excellent bone and feet. Moved freely on a good stride. In super coat and condition.
2nd Santalina Coroebus (Johnson and Langley) – Another very smart youngster who is very well balanced all through. Typical head with slightly domed skull. Soft expression with good chiselling beneath the eyes. Well placed ears hanging close to the head. Good length of neck leading to well laid shoulder and correct angulation of the upper arm. Elbows tucked neatly into the brisket. Well sprung ribcage of good length. Scores in hindquarters with well turned stifles and good width of second thigh. A fraction shorter on the leg than the winner. Moved well with good driving action. In excellent coat and condition.
3rd Amblelight Jasmine at Evangelise (Best)
Class B – Pencelli Memorial Post Graduate Dog or Bitch (4:1)
1st Tigerrock Amazing Grace with Willowmeana (Casey) – Very feminine bitch who has excellent overall type and balance. Typical head with skull and muzzle of equal length, slightly domed skull. Very soft expression and well chiselled beneath the eyes. Her neck is clean and of very good length leading seamlessly to well laid shoulder and corresponding length and return of upper arm. Good depth of chest and length of ribcage. Well made hindquarters with good definition of second thigh and well turned stifles. Quality bone and the best of feet. In tip top coat and condition. Moved accurately fore and aft and showed good open side gait when viewed in profile.
2nd Glenbrows Hopefullness (Lamport) – Well balanced all through. Well shaped head with skull and muzzle of equal length. Clean neck of good length. Well laid shoulder and equal length and return of upper arm. Good depth of chest. Correct topline with slight rise over the loin. Not quite the strength in hindquarters as the winner. Good bone and feet. Coat of good texture. Moved soundly.
3rd Gwirgariad Shooting Star (Lockie)
Class C – Dalati Memorial Open Dog or Bitch (9:4)
1st Sh Ch Heniveruce King of Brewers for Aprilflash ShCEx (Gaylor & Robertson) – This dog is very well balanced. Compact in body and standing four square all round. Masculine head but not coarse in any way. His skull is very slightly domed and of equal length to the muzzle with good chiselling beneath the eyes. Ears well set and hanging close to the head.
Clean neck of good length and free from throatiness. Shoulder is well laid with corresponding length and return of upper arm. Chest is of good width and depth. Forelegs straight and placed under the body with elbows close to the brisket. Ribcage is well sprung. Topline held well with slight rise over the loin. Strong hindquarters with moderate bend of stifle and well defined second thigh. Rear pasterns square from hock to heel. Nice round well padded feet.
Moved parallel fore and aft with good driving action when viewed in profile holding his tail well. His coat is of good colour and silky texture. Overall a very nice dog.
2nd Tigerrock Lit De Roses with Willowmeana (Casey) – Very well balanced bitch who presents an excellent outline when stacked. Her head is well proportioned with skull and muzzle of equal length. She has a very soft, almost pleading expression and is well chiselled beneath the eyes. Ears are of vine shape and hang close to the head.
Her neck is clean and of good length. She has a very good layback of shoulder with equal length of upper arm which is correctly angulated placing forelegs under the body. She has a good depth and width of chest and her elbows sit snugly into the brisket. Ribcage is well sprung and ribs are carried well back. Her hindquarters are well muscled, with well turned stifles and good width of second thigh. Well let down hocks. Bone of good quality throughout with good well padded feet.
She has good driving movement. Sadly at the last moment she dropped her tail whilst moving otherwise which cost her top spot today. Her coat is of good silky texture and nicely feathered.
