YOUR JUDGES
Dogs Judge – Kathy Moores (Walgoreg)
Kathy was brought up with a miniature Poodle who was her companion throughout her childhood due to the fact she was an only child. She acquired her first show dog, a Welsh Springer Spaniel, in 1980 and bred her first litter in 1982. After considerable success with the puppy she kept from this first litter, she then got “the showing bug” and the rest, as they say, is history! In 1983, she acquired a Brittany from the second litter to be born in the UK and from then onwards has bred, shown, Field Trialled and worked both breeds with a considerable amount of success, making up Champions in both breeds.
She started judging in 1987 and was honoured to be chosen to award the first ever set of Challenge Certificates to Brittanys at Crufts in 1997. She is passed to award Challenge Certificates in 27 Gundog breeds and also judges the Gundog Group at Championship level. She has been fortunate to judge in many different countries in Europe and further afield.
She was a Secondary school teacher for 12 years and her interest in education has carried on into the world of dogs as Kathy has been a Kennel Club Accredited Trainer in Conformation and Movement since 2002.
Kathy is also a member of the Kennel Club, has served on many Club committees over the years including the Welsh Springer Spaniel Club and is currently Vice-Chairman and Health Co-ordinator for the Brittany Club of Great Britain.
In her professional life, Kathy has been Managing Director of Fosse Data Systems, the dog show printing services company, since 1994.
At present, she shares her home with three Welsh Springers and when not judging, lecturing or travelling between France and the UK, she still manages to show them from time to time!

Bitches Judge - Mrs Jane Sutherland - (Jacranella)
I am delighted and honoured to be judging at the WSSCSW Championship Show.
Welsh Springers have always been a part of my life, growing up we had them at home, and I continued with that by bringing my own Welsh Springer into my home when Craig and I married, and I’ve been involved in working, showing and breeding Welsh Springers under my Affix Jacranella, for nearly 30 years.
I believe strongly in the dual purpose nature of this lovely breed, all my Welsh Springers both work on shoots, compete in Working Tests and Field Trials as well as competing in the show ring, and we enjoy a degree of success in each field.
I’ve made up three Show Champions and a Full Champion as well as gaining Field Trial Awards and Working Test awards and the Show Gundog Working Certificate.
In my role as Field Trial & Working Secretary for the WSSCSW I run Minority Breed Spaniel Field Trials for my Club, one of only two minority breed Spaniel Clubs to do so. I am committed to raising the profile of Welsh Springers, and other minority breed spaniels, in the field, both as shooting companions and successful trialling dogs.
I’m very much looking forward to judging Bitches for the WSSCSW, and extend my thanks to the Committee for the invitation to award CC’s at the Championship Show.
Jane Sutherland
