Autumn Walk – Kenfig Nature Reserve
Sunday 13th November meet at 10.45am
We haven't been to Kenfig Nature Reserve for a couple of years (that's the last time in the photo above) which is a shame because it is a wonderful location for one of our dog walks and club get together. The area offers a choice of walks around the reservoir or through the dunes to the pebble fringed, sandy beach. Beautiful walks that you can spend hours exploring, only tip would be to take wellies or spare shoes/towels as it can get rather muddy in places!
We meet at 10:45 so that we can observe the 2 minutes silence at 11:00 am for remembrance Sunday.
Kenfig National Nature Reserve is one of the finest wildlife habitats in Wales and is also one of the last remnants of a huge dune system that once stretched along the coastline of southern Wales from the Ogmore River to the Gower peninsular.
There are plenty of plants and bird life to spot at the nearby Kenfig Pool. It attracts a large number of waterfowl, and due to the lack of rain there’s a small beach area and plenty of reeds for those would be beaters! The natural pool, despite local legends, is actually very shallow and does not contain any ancient buildings underneath it.

Getting there
If you use the what3words app – which is more accurate than Sat Navs - go to https://w3w.co/somewhere.dimes.vineyard
It's easy enough to find. From the M4, at junction 37, take the A4229 exit to Porthcawl/Pyle, follow signs for Porthcawl and North Cornelly and from there you'll see the 'brown duck' signs that steer you towards the nature reserve and visitor centre. Nearest Postcode is CF33 4PT
NOTE: There is a parking charge there nowadays
