The committee are sad to hear of the passing of Mrs Rita Curtis.

Rita together with her late husband John were committee members from 1995 until they retired due to John's failing health and his subsequent death in 2009. They were well known on the show circuit with their first Welsh bitch Heronsmere Rose Tattoo at Highmere who was born in 1990 and bred by the late Betty Simpson.

Alice was mated in 1992 to Sh Ch Cwrt Afon Llion and produced Highmere Rhosyn Saron who won the CC at Welks in 1996 under Pat Rhodes and a second CC at Y Bas 1997 under Kath Morgan.

In 1998 a second littler to Sh Ch Mynyddmaen Cadjael produced a first show champion for John and Rita. Lily won several best puppy awards at CH shows in 1999 and won the title at a young age. Sh Ch Highmere Foxy Lady won her CC’s at East of England (Mansel Young) 2000, Manchester (Len Morgan) 2001 and WSSC South Wales (Stephen Pick) 2001 where she also took Best in Show. John and Ritas final litter produced Highmere Martha who was owned and shown by Karen Lancett.

John and Rita were both huge supporters of our club and will be greatly missed.

Our sympathies to their daughters Jane and Tracy and their grandchildren and many friends.

Jan Janes
