CRITIQUE

I was delighted to be asked to judge the WSS Club of Wales Open Show and thank the committee for their kind invitation. It was a modest entry of 38 dogs making 50 entries but there were some quality dogs present and I was very pleased with my winners. As always there was a lovely atmosphere and a very warm welcome from the committee.

Judge: Mrs Anne Worth (Sarabande)

CRITIQUE – DOG CLASSES

Minor Puppy Dog (2,0)

1st: Wren’s Llon Lewys At Gwynmarren. Youngster who took his time to settle but when he did was very sound on the move. Lovely personality and seemed to be enjoying himself. Preferred his head and overall shape. Lovely bone and body. Good angles front and back. Maturing as he should. Will have a good future I'm sure. Best Puppy Dog.

2nd: Cemis’ Taimere’s Talk About Me. Another raw pup who moved well when settled with good rear drive. Bigger than winner and longer cast but overall a balanced picture. Good bone and body, coat coming along nicely.

CRITIQUE – SPECIAL AWARDS

JUDGE: Mrs Collette Perkins (Brent)

Special Junior Dog or Bitch (1,0)

1st. Cemis’ Taimere’s Talk About Me (right) - 7 month old mature boy. Well constructed dog, good shoulder and plenty of hind angulation. He has a masculine head, with a kind expression. He is well bodied throughout and shown in great condition. On the move he was sound and held his topline, carrying his tail level.

Special Post Graduate Dog or Bitch (6,3)

1st. Jones' Julita Rumours at Trosley (centre) - 2 year old bitch. The most balanced in the class. Well laid shoulder, good depth and spring of ribcage, powerful, muscled hindquarters. Beautiful feminine head. Moved with purpose, carrying her topline well.

2nd. Dawson’s Ferndel Heather Dew - A longer cast bitch but still a lot to like about her. She doesn’t have the overall shape of the winner but she is balanced and was shown in super condition. Moved ok.

Special Len Morgan Memorial Open Stakes Dog or Bitch (5,2)

1st. Lancett’s Sh Ch Coedybrain Nia at Cwmbeili (left) - 5 year old bitch, so full of type. She is the correct size and well balanced overall. Good tight feet, enough bone, well angulated and another shown in super condition. Her head is feminine with a kindly expression. She moved out soundly and effortlessly, holding her shape well.

2nd. Cemis’ Shandwick Viscount - Overall, a larger stamp of dog, who is longer on the leg, but nonetheless he was still pleasing to the eye. He is sound, has a good spring of rib and moved ok but lost out to the bitch on overall type.
