Even if you are not showing your dog why not come along to support the competitors. There's always refreshments available. It's a great opportunity to meet up with club members and see a multitude of Welsh Springers in one place. As we are located close to Chepstow it's a great setting-off place to go and explore the beautiful Wye Valley - there's the famous Chepstow Castle and the wonderful Tintern Abbey is just 5 miles away. Why not arrange a dog walk with friends and family and drop in to see us at lunchtime or later on to see the awards of the day's champions.

There's always a warm welcome at our shows and it's the ideal place if you want to learn more about the breed - we look forward to seeing you there.

JUDGES' PROFILES

Judge: Sue Shinkfield (Notrella)

My thanks to the Committee for this invitation to judge Welsh Springer Spaniels at your Open Show.
I am now retired from a busy career in the world of education; work which limited my ability to breed and show on anything other than small scale for many years.

I have been showing cocker spaniels for over 40 years and have awarded Challenge Certificates on numerous occasions, my last CC appointment being at The Cocker Spaniel Club in 2022 and my next will be at Crufts in 2025.

Though I only keep a small number of dogs and breed only when I want something for myself, we currently have two Show Champions at home which I own in partnership with the famous Quettadene kennels.

I have had the privilege to judge all gundog breeds, including WSS, at many Open Shows over a very long period during which I have judged at breed, Group and Best in Show level.

I am very much looking forward to judging your show.

SPECIAL AWARDS JUDGE

Mandy Primmer (Amanshe)

I have been surrounded by Welsh Springers my entire life as the family dog, apart from a few years with a rescued Black Labrador, which only confirmed that my heart belongs to Welsh Springers.

When I was made redundant at the age of 21, I used my redundancy money to buy my very first Welsh Springer. It was while attending puppy training classes with him that I was introduced to ringcraft and then to showing.

We are looking forward to seeing you all there
