The UK Welsh Springer Spaniel club called for a Worldwide Welshie Weekend to help celebrate the club’s centenary – so to support them we called for our members to join us for a Welshie walk at Barry Island on Sunday 8th October. We were extremely lucky to get some extremely unseasonal weather for early October. It was a glorious sunny day – giving credence to Barry Island’s nickname “BARRY-BADOS”

We’d only had a few days to advertise the event so we weren’t surprised that not very many turned out. We usually get upwards of 30 dogs for our informal dog walks but today there were only about a dozen or so – although the beach was packed with plenty other dogs.

You’ll see from the photos that we have quite a few young pups in our group – and they certainly enjoyed themselves racing around the beach and running rings around the older members of our group.

Anyway a great day was had by all including the humans who were thankful to retire to a cafe on the prom for coffee and cake.

Look forward to seeing more of you at our next Welshie Walk.

Hope you enjoy the selection of photographs in the gallery (click here, the gallery opens a new page) – if you have any photos you would like to add please send them on to me.

I think everybody who came enjoyed the day and we’re looking forward to the next one already – look out for our announcements here and on our Facebook page.
